Today is the International Children’s Day – commemorated to protect children’s lives and rights and promote their happiness and good health.

During the past 70-odd years since the designation of the day, many efforts have been made to resolve the child issue - namely the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the foundation of the United Nations Children's Fund with the objectives to promote education and health of children, completely eliminate child labor and protect children from all sorts of crimes. However, the international community has yet a long way to go before achieving notable progress in the situation of children.

Amid the conflicts and internal disturbances, hunger and poverty sweeping across the world, the heavy refugee packages and burdens of child labour are weighing down the young fragile shoulders instead of schoolbags.

Even in countries boasting of “rapid economic growth” and modern civilization, children are reduced to targets of violation in the families and the society. Such is the stark reality of today.

However, children in the DPRK are growing happily under the warm care of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , fulfilling their wishes and nurturing talents to their hearts’ content with nothing to envy in the world.

Even during the hard times, students are given new uniforms and various stationery such as “Sonamu” schoolbags, “Mindullae” notebooks, textbooks and pencils. And the ringing of school bells signifying the 12-year compulsory education can be heard in schools all across the country be it in the deep mountains in the north or on the isolated islands in the southernmost part of the country.

With the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee held in June, 2021, the supply of nutritional food including dairy products to all children in the country on state expenses was formulated as the Party policy and accordingly, high-quality dairy products are now being supplied to each and every child across the country.

Even when an extremely high tension was created in our country due to the sudden inflow of the malignant virus, a series of measures were taken to continue the supply of infant formula and rice powder, and fish was provided to all the baby homes, children’s homes, and primary and secondary boarding schools, touching the hearts of all people.

It is not because we are well-off that such painstaking efforts are made for the care of children.

If only a part of the fund spent on upbringing of children could be allocated to economic development, we may have built a factory essential for economic construction and achieved progress in the economic development.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un is of the view that the harsher the conditions get, the more devoted we should be to our children and we should resolutely advance towards the future of communism by dint of love for the children, and that such should be the way of advance and development of our revolution.

Upholding the noble intention of his, our Republic regards the work for children as the topmost national priority.

Flowers are blooming under the warm sunrays. Likewise, our children will grow into reliable pillars of socialist Korea thanks to the motherly Party’s ardent love.
