Let hurray for socialism ring out from the people’s dining tables first.

This is the most pressing, prime target put forward by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for improvement of the people’s living standard.

Therefore, our Party set the goal for grain production as the primary goal among 12 important goals of the year for developing the national economy, and formulated a concrete plan to put the agriculture on the track of stable and sustainable development within a few years’ time.

We have not made such a decision in the hope of receiving external aids or having accidental good fortune brought by nature.

The past history of our struggle taught us the truth: To defend our happiness and guarantee our future, we should follow the guidance of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .

The same history is now encouraging the entire people to follow the road of patriotism.

In order to realize the noble desires of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who devoted themselves to development of agriculture, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set seed revolution as the main link in the whole chain of agricultural revolution and has paid special attention to breeding and introducing high-yielding varieties that suit to the weather conditions of our country and are resistant to disaster-prone abnormal climate.

Permeated in the Farm No. 1116, which had been transformed into a comprehensive seed research and development center, are the devotion of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to the research of breeding high-yield varieties.

Saying that the seed issue should be regarded as an important link and be prioritized in agricultural sector, he set up Farm No. 1116 as a model unit in implementing the Party’s policy on seed revolution and also took all the relevant measures for development of the farm.

He spared his valuable time to inform them of the development trend of modern science and technology, sent them large amounts of data on cutting-edge technology, taught them the direction and ways to research into seed, and also resolved all other issues arising from the farm including the issue of securing high-yielding seeds as well as material and technological means.

When he heard the report on growing a new high-yielding strain of crop such as “Phyongok No.9”, he was so pleased that he would put aside many other important state affairs and visit the dus ty farm field over and over again.

He visited the farm field several times and even on Sundays when others all take a rest, and May 31, 2015 was one of them.

There, he set forth new, higher goals before the farm, saying that, in order to satisfactorily resolve the issue of food shortage for our people by raising good crops, we should breed in larger numbers new strains that require less fertilizer for their growth but produce a high and stable yield, and also the high-yielding strains with strong resistance to drought, rain, wind, cold, heat as well as harmful insects.

Looking at the farm field laden with a bumper crop despite the unfavorable weather conditions, he expressed satisfaction all along, saying that to him, the sound of the rolling sea of rice and maize was like the sound singing the bumper harvest long desired by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il , and that he could almost see there the images of our people sitting around the table with sumptuous food, beaming with happiness.

During these meaningful days recorded in the annals of his dedication to people, several farms including Farm No.1116 bred and introduced high-yielding varieties, thus breaking the record made in the highest-yielding year.

Today the catastrophic natural disasters sweeping across many countries and regions of the world are bringing about fatal consequences to the existence and activities of mankind as well as to the socio-economic development, which arouses great concern from the international society.

In some countries, continued drought, the worst of its kind, has inflicted great damage on the agricultural sector, generating, in turn, food shortage, and a lot of people are now subjected to severe famine and poverty.

In our country, too, drastic climate change persists for several consecutive years.

However, as long as we have the ardent love of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who really means to fill the rice granaries of our people to the brim, though he might turn himself into a seed or a handful of soil in this course, and as long as there are the people who faithfully follow his leadership, the singing in praise of bumper harvest will reverberate throughout this land.
