Steel works across the country are making efforts to boost production capacity of iron and steel.
The South Hamgyong Provincial Steel Works is lowering the norm of consumption per unit in production by promoting the work of technically perfecting the lines of producing steel, rolled steel and pig iron.
It renovated the rolling blank heating furnace into an efficient one in a short period, increased the intensity of rolling roll with advanced heat treatment technique and effected several technical innovation plans, with the result that it produces round steel of different sizes while consuming less coal than before.
It also improved the quality of anthracite briquette by developing an adhesive binder with pulp waste water and extract liquor of plants.
The metal building-materials factory in Sinhung County boosts iron and steel production of different sizes by further upgrading its technical equipment.
It installed a highly-efficient medium frequency induction furnace to lay a foundation for producing molten iron 1.2 times while halving electricity consumption and shortening the melting time over one hour earlier than in the previous period.
It also renovated the rolling blank heating furnace into an efficient circulating fluidized bed furnace to reduce coal consumption and increase heat efficiency over 1.5 times more than before.
The Sariwon Steel Works is accelerating the assembly of dust collecting device as the assembly of small blast furnace body, a steel production process relying on brown hematite, anthracite and other domestic materials and fuel, is nearing completion.
