So Kyong Hui is a teacher at Sinuiju Art School in North Phyongan Province.
As she sang well from her childhood, she distinguished herself at the New Year’s Day performance of schoolchildren every year and the national youth and children’s art individual contests. After graduating from the then Sinuiju College of Arts and the then Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory, she became a vocal teacher at the Sinuiju Art School.
At the beginning, she thought that she would be able to train her students into excellent reserve pop singers if she taught them her experience and skills she had gained in the course of conducting artistic activities and receiving education for years.
In reality, however, that was not the case.
While teaching the students, she came to realize that an educator should have an eye for discovering outstanding students and a high level of ability and enthusiasm to bring their talents into bloom.
She made strenuous efforts to find out a scientific teaching method and apply it into teaching with the main emphasis put on retaining the individuality of students.
In the course of intensifying the study of the rhythm, an important element in singing, she created an effective method which could get the students to understand the genre of singing and correct method of breathing.
Thanks to her enthusiastic and scientific instruction of finding out the shortcomings of her students with her good ear, which other people could hardly hear, and pointing out the reason, the skills of her students developed with each passing day. Gradually, she became a competent educator in the training of reserve pop singers.
Among her disciples are vocalists who are active at famous art troupes, including the Mansudae Art Troupe and the Phibada Opera Troupe after graduating from Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun University of Music and Dance.
Having worked as a teacher for 17 years, she is still devoting herself to the education with a high goal and zeal to train a larger number of prominent reserve singers.
