A meeting took place at the Weightlifting Gymnasium in Chongchun Street in Pyongyang on January 26 to announce ten best players and ten best coaches of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for 2023.
It was attended by Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, and Minister Kim Il Guk of Physical Culture and Sports, Chairman Kim Myong Gun of the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee and officials concerned and athletes.
Ten best players and ten best coaches for 2023 were announced at the meeting.
The ten best players include An Chang Ok , artistic gymnastics player of the April 25 Sports Team, Kang Hyon Gyong , weightlifter of the Amnokgang Sports Club, Ri Song Gum , weightlifter of the April 25 Combat Sports Team, Pang Chol Mi , boxer of the Kumgangsan Sports Team, Mun Hyon Gyong , wrestler of the April 25 Combat Sports Team, Kim Il Gyong , weightlifter of the April 25 Combat Sports Team, Kim Yu Sim , Taekwon-Do player of the Ryongaksan Taekwon-Do Team, Ri Chong Song , weightlifter of the April 25 Combat Sports Team, Ri Ji Ye , shooting player of the Defence Sports Club of the Ministry of National Defence, and Han Il Ryong , athlete (marathon) of the Amnokgang Sports Club.
The ten best coaches are Kim Chun Phil , artistic gymnastics coach of the Pyongyang Sports Club, Jong Song Hui , teacher of the weightlifting department of the Central Sports School, Kye Song Il , weightlifting coach of the April 25 Combat Sports Team, Pak Chol Jun , boxing coach of the Kumgangsan Sports Team, Kim Myong Chol , wrestling coach of the April 25 Combat Sports Team, Ri Chol Rim , Taekwon-Do coach of the Ryongaksan Taekwon-Do Team, Ri Chol Nam , weightlifting coach of the April 25 Combat Sports Team, Choe Hyong Chol , athletics (marathon) coach of the Amnokgang Sports Club, Sim Chong Rim , shooting coach of the Defence Sports Club of the Ministry of National Defence, and Han Chol Hak , football coach of the April 25 Sports Team.
The Premier awarded the certificates and sportswear bearing letters reading “DPRK’s Ten Best Players for 2023” and “DPRK’s Ten Best Coaches for 2023” to those who were selected as the best players and coaches.
At the end of the meeting, there was a congratulatory performance by the itinerant art squad under the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports.
