Jang Hyok Chol is a senior at Sinuiju Disabled Soldiers College of Economics in North Phyongan Province. Recently he won a scientific research prize for university students.
Several years ago he was injured in an accident during military service.
He said he was deeply agonized over the fact that he could no longer render assistance to the country at such a young age and he might be marginalized from society. But medical workers, neighbours and many others volunteered to give him medical assistance and take care of his life.
In addition, the ordinary ex-soldier received various kinds of social benefit. This brought him renewed vitality and hope for life.
Encouraged by the benevolent care of the country for disabled soldiers, he made up his mind to enrol at Sinuiju Disabled Soldiers College of Economics.
Ever since he entered the college, he studied in real earnest, achieving good academic results for every subject.
After he graduated from the college with full marks, he made some research achievements of practical value.
“I’m a man with disabilities, but I’ll learn more and more for my socialist country which helps honoured disabled soldiers cherish beautiful hope and dream and realize them,” said Jang.
