The Regional Development 20×10 Policy is making headway in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
The policy is aimed at carrying out the construction of modern regional-industry factories in 20 counties every year without fail and thus raising the basic material and cultural living standards of the people to a higher level throughout the country within ten years. The significance of the policy lies in the fact that another task will be fulfilled in the efforts to realize the long-cherished desire of the Workers’ Party of Korea to provide the people with an affluent and civilized material and cultural life as soon as possible.
In his important speech made on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of the DPRK in September, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the prerequisite task the Party and the government should place particular importance on and push ahead with strongly is to implement the regional development policy in the new era in an unconditional and perfect way.
And he earnestly said that there is no more urgent revolutionary task than this one from the viewpoint of the current situation when epochal regional transformation has become the most important task and indispensable requirement for comprehensive development of socialism and comprehensive rejuvenation of the country.
It is his noble intention that a thorough implementation of the Party’s regional development strategy is an overriding political work to give full play to the advantages of the state system maintaining the people-first principle as its ideal and guarantee the firm succession of the socialist cause.
To this end, he attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the regional-industry factories in Songchon County in February to signal the start of the regional industry revolution, and in August he gave field guidance at the construction site of the regional-industry factories in Hamju County to bring about a new era of regional change.
