On March 20, the State Duma of Russia adopted an appeal of the Russian Federation Council to the UN and international parliamentary organizations on the occasion of the 25th year of the beginning of NATO’s air raid on Yugoslavia.
The appeal expressed concern over the West’s continued attempts to beautify the aggression on Yugoslavia as a “peace-keeping operation”, erase the loss of human lives by NATO’s bombardment from memory and shift the crime of having started the war in the Balkan Peninsula onto Serbians.
It said that both houses of the Russian Federation Council demand the UN, international parliamentary organizations and parliaments of each country condemn NATO’s military operation against Yugoslavia and take measures to check the attempts at distorting historical truth about the tragic event in 1999 and place the responsibility by international law for the invasion of Yugoslavia on NATO member nations.
It stressed the need to fairly appraise the blatant violation of international laws and regulations which destabilized the work of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and exerted negative influence on the correlations between European countries.
