A symposium on improving the accuracy of earthquake and tidal wave forecast in the East Sea of Korea was held on March 26-27 under the sponsorship of the Korean Oceanography Society of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.
It was aimed at finding out practical and rational methods for accurately forecasting earthquakes and tidal waves in the East Sea and promptly reporting them.
Present there were scientists, technicians and lecturers of Kim Il Sung University, the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration, the Hydraulic Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, Pyongyang Hydro-Meteorological College and other units.
The symposium heard valuable proposals made by scientists and technicians, followed by a question-and-answer session and speeches.
The participants listened to the research findings conducive to improving the accuracy of forecasting all marine disasters and shared good experiences.
During the symposium, there was a video show dealing with the danger of earthquake and tidal wave and the countermeasures.
