OneNovember day in Juche 82(1993), there was a meeting for account settlement andincome distribution at the then Wonhwa Cooperative Farm in Phyongwon County.
Themeeting adopted a decision of sending the share for President Kim Il Sung they had saved in the pastto him who had become an honorary farmer of the farm in the period ofthe socialist agricultural cooperativization after the Fatherland Liberation Warand cared about the economy of the farm.
Afterlistening carefully to an official’s report on the meeting ofthe day, the President said that a man with 100 000 won was a rich man andrecalled that they had not a proper quilt at the time of organizing theircooperative. And he recited the passage of a song “Where shall I spend all thislarge share?” in delight, before being lost in thought for a while.
Hethen told the official to buy tractors, lorries and farm machines with themoney and send them to the farm.
Afew days later he sat together with the official to calculate the money neededfor those machines. As he learned that they cost greater than his savings, he smilinglysuggested making the deficit with his next year’s share.
Thefarmers came a long way from their village to greet the tractors, trailers andtrucks sent by the President and returned with them singing and dancing. It wasa truly touching scene.
