Phytosin, a newly developed bioactive substance, has been widely applied to the agricultural sector, proving effective in practice.
The natural physiological activator was first discovered in 1964, according to Kim Yong Song, PhD and director of the Pyongyang Advanced Biotechnology Company under Kim Chaek University of Technology. An in-depth study found that it has a positive effect on the flowering of plants and their general growth. In 1984, it was proved that the water contained in organisms, unlike the ordinary water in nature, does not simply serve as a medium for reaction but is directly engaged in all metabolic processes to ensure normal activities of organisms, and phytosin is the key element of the water.
Afterwards, a new theory was proposed that the water containing a proper amount of phytosin should be differentiated from the ordinary one, followed by a relevant study. As it helps boost the activation of metabolism of organisms and increase their resistance to stress, phytosin is widely being adopted in agriculture, healthcare, fishery and other fields.
Through many years of research, the Pyongyang Advanced Biotechnology Company succeeded in obtaining phytosin in an original way.
It established its production process and made an analysis of the major elements of phytosin and its properties with the help of relevant institutes.
In addition, the company has begun to apply it preferentially to agricultural units on a trial basis since last year.
Last year it undertook a cultivation test by treating the seeds of winter wheat, paddy rice, maize and soybean with phytosin and spraying its solution to the leaves of those crops according to each stage of their growth. The test results showed a remarkable improvement in the number of tillers per phyong , earing, the number of grains per ear, the weight per 1 000 grains, the rate of wintering and resistance to unfavourable growth conditions.
This year, the company has stepped up the effort to introduce phytosin to agricultural units across the country.
Phone calls, photos and video clips showing satisfactory situations of wheat and barley crops are coming from many farms to the company.
While continuing to introduce phytosin to more agricultural units, the company is working to apply it to healthcare, forestry, mushroom cultivation and animal husbandry in cooperation with scientific institutes, universities and hospitals.
