Developed by the Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, this machine is designed to produce animal feed cake by pressing and moulding powdered salt, minerals, essential amino acids and other elements for the growth and nutrition of domestic animals under a high temperature.
Nowadays, many foreign animal husbandry businesses are intensifying research into and production of such kinds of mineral feed cake that can be put on pasture so that grazing animals can take salt, minerals and nutritional elements there according to their physiological requirements.
Such kinds of feed cake need to be insoluble in rain and snow and be hard enough to be licked or gnawed by animals.
Because of the physical characteristics of the feed, many countries are using high-pressure hydraulic jacks and presses in moulding it.
According to Kye Jin Chol, a section chief at the university, the new moulder is highly practicable as it does not rely on hydraulic equipment but screw implement and lever-type force amplifying mechanism.
Having won the first place at the 17th National Machine Design Festival in 2023, the new machine is now proving highly effective at the Songgum Stockbreeding Farm in Kangdong County, Pyongyang.
