The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) released a report that there still exists problematic legislations and policies in Xinjiang, China, and the Western media and organizations made comments on human rights issue in Tibet.

In this regard, the spokesperson for Chinese Foreign Ministry made public the following stand a week ago.

China sets it as an important affair in state administration to respect and ensure human rights centered on the people, and promotes historic successes in human rights.

Today, Xinjiang is stabilized and its economy is developing. People are leading affluent and happy lives.

China urges OHCHR to discharge its mission in an impartial and objective manner and refrain from politicizing human rights and fomenting division and confrontation as well as from being misused for political forces’ plot to tarnish and contain China.

The Western media and organization such as New York Times and Human Rights Watch commented that Chinese measures for economic development are wrecking the way of life and eco-culture of Tibetan people, which China strongly rejects as distortion of truth and dissemination of lies by politicians, media and organizations concerned, the spokesperson added and continued.

The Tibet issue falls under the category of China’s internal affairs and China does not allow any form of external interference.

The economy of Tibet has for long developed in a sustainable and sound manner; the cultural tradition is under protection; and people’s living standard and quality of life have radically improved, winning the support of all the ethnic groups in Tibet.

The development and progress in Tibet are inconceivable apart from the warm care of the central government as well as the support and aid of the people across the country.

The spokesperson stressed that China welcomes more foreigners to visit Tibet and see its development with their own eyes.
