The DPRK conducts various activities for providing rights to those with visual impairment.
Last year the Blind Association of Korea published the “Law of the DPRK on Ensuring the Rights of the Disabled” in braille, helping the blind exercise full rights in social life.
The books were distributed to schools for the blind across the country, Sci-Tech Complex, Grand People’s Study House and libraries in all provinces.
The BAK made a nationwide survey of the demand of the blind and is channelling efforts into drawing and implementing four-year action plan.
Through the survey of regional blind associations, it helps them improve their capabilities and practical qualifications.
In June members of the BAK visited the Kangso Kwangmyong Factory on the occasion of the national day of persons with disabilities and donated a lot of aid materials.
It also conducts various activities to continuously strengthen exchanges and cooperation with international bodies such as the World Blind Union, protect the rights of persons with visual impairment and help them give full play to their role in society.
