The Academy of Medical Sciences has made good progress in its effort to develop treatment methods and medicines for the promotion of public health.
This year alone, many of its advances were registered as national sci-tech achievements.
The microbiology institute under the academy solved scientific and technical problems arising in developing vaccines. In this way, it set up a vaccine production method whose advantage is to double the immunity duration as against previous ones and reduce dosage by far.
It developed Samhyang Uhwangchongsim Capsule which is convenient for use and storage and superior to Samhyang Uhwangchongsimhwan, which is well known among the locals, in terms of fever reduction, detoxification and heart stimulation.
The establishment of the extraction technology of Samhyang Uhwangchongsimhwan has provided the foundations for increasing the production of medicines with high efficacies with less raw materials.
The Children’s Nutrition Research Institute has developed a system by which to monitor and estimate the growth and nutrition of children across the country in real time, thus contributing greatly to the scientific nutritional childcare.
The system makes it possible to estimate the growth and nutrition of children by measuring their height, weight, sitting height, chest circumference and other indices and confirming nutrition supply and take relevant measures to improve them. Accordingly, it can save the labour and cost for field survey.
Other institutes under the academy are also active in their research activities.
The academy presented more than 80 exhibits of sci-tech achievements and goods at the recent National Exhibition of Sci-tech Achievements in the Public Health Sector-2024, drawing the particular attention of the visitors and participants.
