One day when the Korean war (1950-1953) unleashed by the US imperialists was at its height, a commander of the unit defending Height 1211 was called by Comrade Kim Il Sung.
As soon as he entered the room, he hurried to report on the performance of his unit’s combat mission. Kim Il Sung said to the commander that he had called him to have him receive medical treatment, not to receive a report on his work.
The officer said with astonishment that he could not leave his post when the enemy was expected to launch a large-scale offensive on Height 1211.
Kim Il Sung said in a resolute voice: In the difficult days when the enemy’s large-scale offensive is imminent, it is not a simple matter to send you away for medical treatment; but we will take over the task of the defence of Height 1211 in the meantime; so, you should leave immediately and return in good health.
He stressed once again that he should accept his words as an order of the Supreme Commander.
In this way, the commander left for a hospital in the rear to carry out the order filled with affection prior to a life-and-death battle.
