Leukoderma and keloid are known to be refractory skin diseases.
Methods of treating these diseases have been developed in many countries. But they give pains to most patients, need long treatment periods and have low cure rates while requiring huge costs.
Han Yong Sik, a dermatologist at the Kwangbok Polyclinic in Mangyongdae District, developed and introduced new treatment method and medicines, opening up new prospects for the treatment of these diseases.
The treatment method and medicines he developed are advantageous in that they require a short treatment period and a low cost and produce a high cure rate without giving pains to patients.
Especially, he created a possibility of preventing leukoderma at its early stage with only one round of treatment.
This success is a result of the painstaking efforts he has made for decades with a resolve to create something original, not a copy of others.
In May 2008, he gave a lecture at the 10th Pyongyang Symposium on Medical Science of Korean Compatriots at Home and Abroad and showed the whole course of treatment at the request of the participants.
After watching his treatment, overseas Korean scholars praised his therapy as the cutting-edge level.
Afterwards, he has cured many leukoderma and keloid patients both at home and abroad.
Many foreign patients who had been treated by him gave him the thumbs up, saying that they had received treatment for leukoderma and keloid in several countries with advanced medical technology, but the diseases had recurred and that the competent doctor from the DPRK had cured them of the diseases.
Han still strives to perfect his research results while treating patients.
His son Han Yun Il helps him much in his research.
