The Regional Development 20×10 Policy is now in full swing in the DPRK.

The Workers’ Party of Korea advanced the policy to build light-industry factories in regions in a bid to develop cities and counties, which are regional bases, in a substantial, material and planned manner.

In parallel with the ongoing rural housing construction, the Party is pushing forward another gigantic undertaking to open up a new phase of development of regional industry, which is geared towards nationwide reconstruction of the regional economy on an entirely fresh and advanced basis and provision of an abundant life as soon as possible to the locals accounting for the overwhelming majority of the country’s population.

It is the Party’s unshakable will to make everyone who is born on this land, be they in the capital or the regions, in towns or remote villages, lead an abundant and civilized life alike under the socialist policy of the State, and to ensure that they do so without fail.

Thanks to the Party’s attitude of making selfless, devoted efforts for the people and strong power of execution to keep the promise with the people unconditionally, the first entities of regional rejuvenation have sprung up in 20 cities and counties since the end of last year.

Yet, the Party took note that the construction of regional-industry factories would not be enough to get rid of the age-old backwardness in regions and put them on a sustainable development track. So it decided to additionally build healthcare facilities, leisure complexes and grain management facilities in all the cities and counties across the country.

It is determined to push ahead with the three additional projects together with light-industry factories in all cities and counties in order to bring about more tangible and noticeable results for the sake of the local people.

It was not that this policy was adopted because the country is economically sufficient and conditions are favourable, much less to demonstrate something.

In hard times the Party made a vital and bold decision and took big strides towards implementing it.

When the three projects are implemented in addition to regional-industry factories in all cities and counties in the near future, all the regions will be able to provide the people with better living conditions in a sustainable development environment that relies not only on the sound light industry foundations but on modern civilization and technology, and, furthermore, this will lead to a great progress in realizing the comprehensive national development programme with the advancement of science, education and public health as the core motive force.

The Korean people are confident that the great Party Central Committee’s outstanding leadership and tremendous power of execution will translate regional rejuvenation into brilliant reality and inject further impetus into the overall prosperity and development of socialist construction.
