There is the children’s dream hall at the Sci-Tech Complex, which sits on Ssuk Islet in the middle of the Taedong River meandering through the capital city of Pyongyang.
The hall consists of an array of rooms and quarters for reading, scientific activities, intellectual development and nature exploration, where there are over 50 pieces of operational exhibits and at least 580 kinds of books for children.
The exhibits telling the principles of things are vivid enough to arouse curiosity of schoolchildren.
As they try and take simulation rides in different quarters, they nurture dreams of becoming astronauts, athletes and drivers.
The “lunar probe” introduces videos about the common knowledge of the moon, such as the distance between the earth and the moon, the lunar surface, the course of the lunar probe getting out of the atmosphere, and sampling on the moon. It always pulls crowds.
The reading room houses a large stock of books including picture books which tell about the country’s history and geography, books helping intellectual development of children and fairytales, complete with touch-screen computers that display cartoons like The Boy General and videos.
Despite the depths of winter, the hall is warm with the children’s zest for learning.
