The times have changed and the structure of power has inverted on the Korean peninsula. However, the US remains unchanged in its sinister intention to crush the DPRK with nukes.
Over the recent years it has headed for a more dangerous stage.
The US has dotted the vicinity of the DPRK with its nuclear assets and made constant attempts to mount a nuclear war, positioning itself as the most dangerous enemy and arch criminal who is posing nuclear threats to the DPRK century after century.
The US has invariably pursued a criminal policy to stifle the DPRK with nukes.
The decades-long DPRK-US confrontation has witnessed a number of changes of administrations in the US, but the US policy to stifle the DPRK with nukes has never changed but rather turned more dangerous with the passage of time.
In November 1948, the Truman Administration unveiled the nuclear blackmail strategy advertising that the US could attack the depths of socialist countries with nukes. As its nuclear monopoly collapsed due to the possession of nuclear weapons by the former Soviet Union, however, it came up with the strategy for containing its periphery in advance that included the Soviet Union and its neighbouring countries in the scope of targets of its attack. This proves that the DPRK has been a target of the US nuclear attack since its founding.
The Korean war in the 1950s was the first step in the bid of the US to carry out the strategy.
On November 30, 1950, Truman directly ordered the US strategic air force unit to make preparations for dropping nuclear bombs. His successor Eisenhower ratified in December 1952 a document on a “new offensive’ intended to use nuclear weapons on the Korean front and openly declared in January 1953 that the US would not “rule out the use of nuclear bombs.”
During the Korean war MacArthur, commander-in-chief of the US Armed Forces in the Far East, blustered that the US would form a radioactive corridor from the east sea to the west sea in the northern part of Korea,” and deployed a nuclear-capable aircraft carrier in the waters off Inchon. The US Joint Chiefs of Staff issued an order to launch a “retaliatory attack” with A-bombs in a bid to turn the tide of the war, and B-29 strategic bombers of the US Air Force took off on a test flight mission for dropping A-bombs from the sky over Pyongyang. These moves were in accordance with the policy and plan of the US administration.
Even after the war the US has worked out a series of nuclear war scenarios such as realistic deterrence strategy and nuclear preemptive attack strategy and revised and supplemented them many times. In this way it intensified its nuclear club policy in terms of scope and depth.
In 2022 the US set the “end of the DPRK’s regime” as its goal in the “nuclear posture review’ and openly pursued the policy of using nuclear weapons against the DPRK.
It is noteworthy that the US has developed its alliance with the ROK, Japan and other countries into a nuclear-based one. It has gone to great lengths to form and run a group aimed at using nuclear weapons against the DPRK, a sovereign state, contrary to the universal principles of UN Charter and other international laws. The establishment and operation of the US-ROK “nuclear consultative group” is a product of the vicious scenario of the US to ignite a nuclear war against the DPRK at any cost by using the puppet ROK as a shock brigade. This has created a risky situation which may lead to a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula.
In March last year the US revised the “guidelines on the operation of nuclear weapons,” clearly showing its intention to invariably maintain its policy of nuclear threat and blackmail against the DPRK.
All the facts show that the DPRK has been a target of the US preemptive nuclear strike and has been constantly under severe nuclear threat for nearly 80 years ever since its founding in 1948.
The US is the arch criminal that has turned the Korean peninsula into the world’s number one hotspot by constantly deploying a huge amount of nuclear weapons in the region. After it sustained a disgraceful defeat in the Korean war, the US established a policy of shipping nuclear weapons into the ROK and made it an outpost for unleashing a nuclear war against the DPRK.
The US declared in July 1957 that its forces stationed in the ROK would be armed with nuclear weapons and began to deploy Honest John nuclear missiles, atomic guns, nuclear bombs and other weapons in January 1958. At the same time, it formed nuclear combat units in the US forces stationed in the ROK and set up a close network of nuclear bases across the ROK.
By the mid-1980s the number of nuclear weapons shipped by the US into the ROK reached more than 1 000, which is four times the density of the nukes in the NATO countries. The Korean peninsula was turned into the biggest nuclear arsenal in the world.
