The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un has unveiled a grand plan to bring about a decisive turn in the development of the country’s fishing industry in the new era and visited several fishery stations, providing energetic guidance over the efforts to cement the foundation of the fishing sector.
On May 27, 2013 he visited the August 25 Fishery Station, where he learned in detail about the operation of its fishing boats and indicated ways and tasks for increased catch of fish while making the rounds of the station such as fishing tackle storehouse and freezing chambers.
In hearty response to his instructions, the fishery station caught over 4 000 tons of fish in the latter half of 2013 alone and increased the catch two times in 2016, as compared to that in the previous year, registering a record high in scores of years. The fishing sector of the Korean People’s Army caught more than 140 000 tons of fish in December 2019 by waging an intensive wintertime campaign.
Kim Jong Un paid close attention to developing the overall fishing sector by leaps and bounds and visited several relevant units to this end.
In the mid-summer of 2018 alone he inspected the Raksan Offshore Salmon Farm, the Songmak Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm, the Kumsanpho Fish Pickling Factory, the newly-built Yonphungho Fish Stocking Station and other units to kindle the flames of a revolution in fish farming and advance the orientation of development for processing marine products.
On December 28, 2024 he said at the inauguration ceremony of the Sinpho City Offshore Farm: The most precious income we have gained is that the Sinpho people came to have a keen interest in the offshore farming which will renew the structure of our fishing industry and grasped the best method by dint of science. The creation of new experience in large-scale aquaculture in Sinpho, which was famous as a leading city in fishing, gives confidence that it is possible to restore and develop the fishing industry of the country with offshore farming as the main domain in the future.
He also attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ragwon County Offshore Farm in which he unfolded a grand plan to build it to be more distinctive and wonderful than the Sinpho City Offshore Farm and develop it as a spectacular fishing village that no one has ever witnessed.
He continues to conduct immortal revolutionary activities geared to sprucing up the country’s fishing sector and bringing about a radical change in the industry.
