March 25, 2021 is one of the innumerable days associated with the devoted efforts of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for the people’s wellbeing.
That day he came to the construction site of the Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District to provide guidance to its blueprint. Going over the blueprint, he said: This time we plan to remove the old home of President Kim Il Sung and build modern terraced apartment blocks in that district. We are going to build there flats for the people, not public buildings. Doing so is the policy of our Party.
He told an official in the design sector, indicating a place in the layout with a pointer in his hand: I think the residential district can be expanded as far as a road leading to an apartment block. It would look nice if houses are built along the banks of the Pothong River. You must plan to build some more 10-14 storeyed apartment blocks in the designated place.
Then he underscored the need to expand the residential district in the direction of the main road so as to build 800 flats in all in the area.
He turned his eyes to the artist’s impression. Pointing at the street to which the district is to be expanded, he urged the official to work out a plan to build there the shops and other neighbourhood-serving amenities for the residential district.
Allocation of the flats was a matter of his special concern. He said that the flats to be built in the Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District should be provided to the labour innovators in the major factories in Pyongyang who have worked devotedly for the Party and the state, as well as the researchers, professors and doctors who have made tangible contributions to the country’s development of science and technology and that the people would welcome that idea.
On April 13, 2022 he attended the inauguration ceremony of the residential district built on the banks of the picturesque Pothong River and cut the tape. He visited the families who have moved to the district and looked round every room of their flats, congratulating them on moving to the new houses.
