Recently, several farms of the DPRK have introduced organic microelement fertilizer Jinhung No. 1 developed by the Ryongaksan Technology Trading Company.
“Nowadays, organic farming is becoming a worldwide trend of agricultural development with growing demand for microelement fertilizer which produces considerable effect with a small amount of application. We have developed highly effective microelement fertilizer with raw materials abundant in our country,” said researcher Ra Mi Sun.
According to her, the fertilizer contains tens of kinds of macro- and micro-elements, 10-odd kinds of amino acids, various vitamins and complex microorganisms, all of which are badly needed for the growth of crops.
Its inorganic components are all of nano level and organic components are low-molecular matters. Accordingly, the per-hectare use of only 100 grams a year is expected to prove effective.
The fertilizer enhances the activation of roots, helps crops shoot out many stems, increases the weight per 1 000 grains and shortens the growth period by 7 to 10 days. It also makes crops highly resistant to disastrous abnormal weather such as high temperature and drought, has strong sterilizing effect and improves the condition of the soil acidified and hardened through yearly application of other fertilizers. In addition, it is effective for raising both the quality and yield in the cultivation of vegetable, mushroom and fruit trees.
It was applied to paddy rice, corn, wheat and barley fields in 2023 and 2024, together with other domestically encouraged plant activators. It proved to be superior to others in terms of the number of ears per phyong , the number of grains per ear, weight per 1000 grains and per-hectare yield.
It was applied to the grain fields of Ansok Tideland which were flooded in 2023, resulting in more than nine tons of per-hectare yield. Last year Ryongyon County of South Hwanghae Province applied the fertilizer to some windy and sandy fields, overfulfilling the grain production plan for the first time.
The organic microelement fertilizer Jinhung No.1 was granted a patent (No. 77658) of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in 2023 and it was awarded a gold medal and the first prize at the 17th National Inventions Exhibition and the 37th National Sci-tech Festival, respectively. The World Intellectual Property Organization conferred a prize on it.
