In a recent statement, the spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry expressed big disappointment over the U.S. State Department releasing the 2025 "Hong Kong Policy Act Report" and announcing sanctions against six Chinese officials representing the central government in Hong Kong and officials of the Hong Kong SAR (HKSAR) government, stating that “China firmly rejects and strongly condemns this".
He said that the release of the so-called U.S. "Hong Kong Policy Act Report", composed of falsehoods and disinformation, and the announcement of these illegal and unilateral sanctions constitute grave interference in China's internal affairs and violate the principles of international law and basic norms governing international relations, adding that this fully exposes the sinister intent of the U.S. trying to undermine Hong Kong's prosperity and stability and block China's progress.
"The Chinese government has unwavering resolve in upholding national sovereignty, security and development interests, implementing the principles of One Country, Two Systems, and opposing interference in Hong Kong affairs by any external forces", stressed the spokesman.
He said China urges the U.S. to stop interfering in China's domestic affairs including Hong Kong affairs in any form, and that China will take resolute countermeasures in response to the U.S.'s erroneous practice.
