The Workers’ Party of Korea is a party with the longest ruling history.

Since it was founded on October 10, 1945, it has held many important meetings. The Third Enlarged Executive Committee Meeting of its Central Organizing Committee from December 17, 1945 to 18 is one of them.

Factionalists and local separatists who had wormed their way into the Party in its initial days wreaked havoc on it, messed up Party discipline and weakening the unity of its ranks.

Given the situation, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung (April 15, 1912-July 8, 1994) regarded it as a crucial task of utmost urgency to take resolute measures for implementing the Party’s organizational line and convened the enlarged executive committee meeting.

In the report to the meeting, Kim Il Sung put a special emphasis on the need to strengthen discipline in the Party and ensure its firm unity and sharply analysed and criticized the evil moves of factionalists and local separatists to hinder the implementation of the Party’s organizational line.

His report was followed by speeches. All those who took the floor fully supported Kim Il Sung ’s report and strictly criticized the factionalists and local separatists, proposing kicking them out of the Party.

Driven to a corner, they tenaciously tried to disrupt the meeting while doggedly insisting on the theory of non-factionalism.

Enumerating their anti-Party moves, Kim Il Sung said that all factionalists in the past or at present have resorted to moves to separate the Party in the disguise of communists and that their assertion that factionalism has disappeared in the Party is a dangerous “theory” aimed at paralysing the vigilance of its members against factionalist acts.

While hearing his remarks, the participants more keenly realized the crafty nature of factionalists and trembled with rage. A representative from North Hamgyong Province who took the floor said that the Party’s political and organizational lines clarified by Kim Il Sung was absolutely right and revealed the moves of factionalists against them.

The factionalists suffered an organized and decisive blow at the meeting.

In his concluding speech at the meeting “For the Consolidation of the Party” , Kim Il Sung stressed the need to consolidate Party organizationally and ideologically, cement its ideological and volitional unity, tighten its discipline, train its officials through practice at factories, mines, workshops and Party cells in the rural communities and strengthen the reporting system.

Looking back on the meeting, Kim Il Sung said that the meeting initiated a great change in Party work and Party life for the first time since the founding of the Party, and this marked the beginning of its growth into a truly sound and powerful party.
