A child prodigy stole the show at the national IT achievements exhibition-2024.
He is Choe Thae Hui, a six-year-old child at Kaeson Kindergarten in Moranbong District, Pyongyang.
When he started attending the kindergarten, Kim Jong Im, teacher in charge of his class, read seven digits to the class and asked them to raise a hand if any one of them could repeat them.
Some children rose up to try, but none of them did it perfectly, except for Choe.
Afterwards, as she taught Choe, Kim came to realize that he had unusual abilities for memory, concentration and observation and is mathematically gifted.
When she found him very interested in robots, she began to teach him about how they work and how to program an algorithm with the help of teachers and researchers at Pyongyang Teachers Training College.
Choe gradually learned to assemble a robot and then he became able to develop the control program by himself. He took part in the national IT achievements exhibition-2024 with a butterfly-shaped robot he made himself. He freely controlled the robot by using the control program. What further amazed the jury and visitors was that he learned tens of digits by heart and remembered them and did multiple-digit sums mentally.
Whenever people praise him as a promising robot scientist, his mother Kim Kil Hyang says the credit goes to the benevolent socialist educational system.
