Cha Su Gyong, a fourth-year student at Changjon Primary School in Central District of Pyongyang, is called a poet by her peers.
From her early age, she liked to express her impression on things and phenomena in a poetic way. Since she enrolled at primary school, she had written in her diary what she had seen and heard, however trifle it was, in the form of a poem.
Her class teacher Kim Sun Mi said: Su Gyong is good at her studies, honest and polite. She is highly poetic. She composes good poems reflecting public sentiments, which would be hard for children of her age to understand. Sometimes she comes up with brilliant ideas, to the admiration of her friends.
“I wish I would have composition lessons every day,” says Su Gyong reflecting her attachment to literature and dream of becoming a famous writer.
At the 13th national literary work prize contest of children held in June to mark the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Children’s Union, her lyrics for children Ever-growing Affection won the first place, for which she was awarded the Children’s Literature Honour Prize.
