The training of technicians and skilled workers is progressing apace in different parts of the country to implement the regional development policy in the new era.
The Pyongyang Cornstarch Factory, Pyongyang Condiments Factory, Hamju County Daily Necessities Factory and other light industrial factories in Pyongyang and regions are actively giving short courses to train skilled workers who will manage and operate the regional-industry factories to be newly built in cities and counties.
Teachers and researchers from Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry and the Academy of Food and Consumer Goods Industries under the Ministry of Regional Industry are passing technical skills to hundreds of students according to sectors.
Compared with the previous year, the number of trainees and the training period have markedly increased and all courses have been further subdivided to improve the quality of lectures significantly.
Among trainees some have accumulated some knowledge and experience while working in factories for several years, and others are new recruits or ex-soldiers who have recently been employed.
In line with the different abilities and levels of the trainees, the teachers and researchers have drawn up multimedia programs on modern machines and equipment and production processes and over 1 000 effective lecture plans according to different sectors to help the trainees acquire rich knowledge and technology.
Meanwhile, South Phyongan Province and many other parts of the country are paying close attention to providing conditions necessary for the short courses to fan their zeal for learning and at the same time encouraging the employees of the newly-built regional-industry factories to enroll in online education system.
Meanwhile, vocational schools have been newly established in city and county construction units since May.
According to an official of the central rural construction headquarters, these schools will play an important role in developing the relevant units into competent ones capable of carrying out any construction project.
The schools are now striving to closely combine theory with practice so as to train the students to be competent builders.
As a result, a foundation has been laid for further strengthening the construction forces for rural and regional construction and realizing the specialization of construction.
