“The barbecue served at the Ryomyong Kumnarak Restaurant is really impressive.”

Located in Ryomyong Street in the capital city of Pyongyang, it opened eight years ago.
Since its opening, its employees have strived to offer barbecue, one of the three favourite dishes of Koreans, as suited to the tastes of the customers.
In order to preserve the peculiar taste of meat according to its kind and part, the cooks at the restaurant devote their sincerity to all the processes, ranging from mincing and seasoning meat to preparing assorted vegetables to be served as a side dish and vinegared soy sauce.
To make donkey barbecue a speciality of the restaurant, they learned the knack of world-famous recipe related to it.
According to Ri Nam Hyok, a cook, donkey is being raised in many countries for cooking as its meat tastes good. Its meat contains protein, calcium and various kinds of amino acids. It is good for relieving stress and strengthening the kidneys and lungs. It also helps improve the elasticity of skin, remove wrinkles and retard aging. And it stimulates the appetite of those patients who have long been in sickbed.
Many people say that they come to the restaurant again as they could not forget the taste of the donkey barbecue it serves.
In addition, the restaurant serves grilled meat as streak pork, beef and mutton and grilled meat of Boer goat, roe deer, turkey, ostrich, duck and squid.
Other typical dishes of the restaurant are spicy casseroles of mutton, pork, beef and seafood, and dishes made with char and potatoes.
“People can relish our barbecue also in Samjiyon which has been built into a modern mountainous city. The modernly-furnished Samjiyon Kumnarak Restaurant in the city serves not only barbecue of various kinds of meat and soft drinks but also dishes made with local specialities to the people who visit the city on tour, study tour or business,” said Choe Kum Chol, manager of the restaurant.
