A modern tourist town has been built in Myongsasimni, a picturesque scenic spot on the east coast of Korea.

From olden times Myongsasimni in the Kalma peninsula has been called an extraordinary scenic attraction for its beautiful natural scenery and 4km-long stretch of beach along the shore. It is incomparably superior to other tourist resorts in terms of ecological and coastal environment.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un had long conceived a far-reaching plan to build recreational facilities for people’s cultural life on scenic and beautiful seaside areas. He initiated the construction of the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area and wisely led the construction project to its successful completion.

During the period of the construction he provided guidance to thousands of layouts.

He visited the construction site in 2018 (May, August and October), 2019 (April) and 2024 (July and December) to acquaint himself with the progress of the project and take strong measures.

He gave instructions on the project to the minutest detail―overall street arrangement, building a large parking lot, renovating Kalma Railway Station, afforestation and public transport and setting up outdoor clocks on buildings and various other places for the convenience of the tourists.

His efforts for the wellbeing of the people also permeate artificial ponds and angling sites that go well with surrounding environment and preserve natural beauty, rows of service facilities and emergency medical facilities in the sea-bathing sections.

He stressed the need to ensure the quality of construction on the highest level so that it would be impeccable even after 50 or 100 years as it is a project to be built for the people at the cost of a huge amount of money and workforce according to the Party’s determination.

Thanks to his energetic and meticulous guidance, a wide selection of iconic service buildings of different scales and designs such as hotels, sea-bathing facilities, sports and recreational facilities, commercial and catering establishments appeared in the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area on June 24, Kim Jong Un highly praised the construction of an eye-opening entity to be recorded as one of the greatest successes for this year in rounding off the implementation of the decisions of the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea and indicated an important orientation for expanding and developing tourism on a large scale.

Now, the Korean people are enjoying the maritime culture to their heart’s content at the appealing tourist attraction.
