One day in December 2015, therespected General Secretary Kim Jong Un called officials to give them a preciousinstruction related to the capacity of self-development.
He said: The capacity of self-developmentconstitutes the greatest strength for us. It is the strength to make yourself strongby yourself. Only when you have the capacity of self-development can youdevelop by your own effort.
The officials were lost in deepthought as they received the instruction of the General Secretary.
In retrospect, the history ofthe Korean revolution can be claimed to be a history in which the revolutionwas pioneered and has emerged victorious on the strength of self-development.
The spirit of self-relianceand self-development of President Kim IlSung and Chairman Kim Jong Il thatman is the master of his own destiny and he should shape his destiny with hisown effort trained the Korean people to be the greatest in spiritual strength whodo not know the word “impossible” and turned the DPRK into an invincible power noone can neglect.
Looking at the officialsfilled with deep emotion, the General Secretary said that without the capacityof self-development the original revolutionary features of the working class cannotbe maintained and a powerful socialist country cannot be built successfully,and went on to say:
As an organism cannot live withoutwater and air, so revolutionaries cannot carve out their path with their own effortswithout the capacity of self-development. If they lose the capacity, they willbecome vegetables.
That day, the officials engravedon their mind the earnest wish of the General Secretary who hopes that all the officialsand working people would vigorously open up a new era of self-reliance andprosperity by holding aloft the banner of self-development-first spirit, apowerful weapon for building a powerful socialist country and the fundamental guarantee for firmlyconsolidating the material and technical foundations of the country.
