There took place a ceremony on Oct. 9 to welcome To Lam, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on his state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to attend the celebrations of the 80 th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

The national flags of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam were seen and the guard of honor of the Korean People’s Army was lined up at the venue for the ceremony.

Present there were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, Ri Hi Yong, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the DPRK, No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the DPRK and other leading officials of the party, government and armed forces organs, Pyongyang citizens and youth and students.

Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, came to the venue for the ceremony.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly greeted Comrade To Lam and had a photo taken against the background of the national flags of the two countries.

To Lam exchanged greetings with the leading officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs of the DPRK who came to receive him.

Kim Jong Un met with Le Minh Hung, Phan Dinh Trac, Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Do Van Chien, members of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and chairman of the Central Theoretical Council of the Party Central Committee and concurrently president of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Phan Van Giang, minister of Defence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and other entourage members of the Vietnamese side and took the reviewing stand with To Lam.

A 21-gun salute was fired amid the playing of the national anthems of the SRV and the DPRK.

Guided by Kim Jong Un , To Lam reviewed the guard of honor of the Korean People’s Army.

There took place a march-past of the guard of honor of the KPA.

Kim Jong Un expressed pleasure of meeting To Lam in Pyongyang at the meaningful time when the WPK and the DPRK people are greeting the great auspicious event.

To Lam expressed gratitude to Kim Jong Un and the WPK and the people of the DPRK for cordially welcoming him with the feelings of warm comradely friendship.

To Lam warmly acknowledged the enthusiastically welcoming masses with the national flags of the two countries and flowers.
