Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Friday met Dmitri Medvedev, president of the United Russia Party, who is paying a congratulatory visit to the DPRK as the head of the delegation of the United Russia Party on the occasion of the 80 th founding anniversary of the WPK.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un warmly greeted Comrade Dmitri Medvedev and had a comradely and friendly talk with him.

He said that he extends warm greetings to Comrade Vladimir Putin, the dearest comrade, availing himself of the opportunity of meeting the Russian friends on the significant occasion.

Warmly welcoming the visit to Pyongyang by Medvedev, he said that the visit of the delegation of the United Russia Party is an expression of the firm support and solidarity of the United Russia Party and the Russian people with the WPK and the Korean people in their just cause and will serve as a significant opportunity in more vigorously expanding and developing the fresh high level of DPRK-Russia relations into the strong and comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.

Referring to the position and role of the ruling parties in strengthening the political cooperation between the two countries and creating a political environment favorable for the development of the bilateral relations, he hoped that the two parties will steadily boost cooperation and more closely conduct many-sided exchange and contact to attain the common goals for defending the interests of the two countries and promoting the wellbeing of the peoples of the two countries.

Medvedev said that he was pleased to visit Pyongyang on the occasion of the 80 th founding anniversary of the WPK which serves as an important event in the history of the Korean people.

He said that the bravery and self-sacrificing spirit of the Korean soldiers displayed in the Kursk liberation operations proved the solidity of the fraternal ties between the two countries, the special relations of trust and the invincibility of the alliance forged at the cost of blood, expressing the will to make positive efforts to further boost exchange and cooperation between the two parties and the two countries.

At the talk, long-term plans for further revitalizing contacts and cooperation between the Workers’ Party of Korea and the United Russia Party were discussed and views on the issues of mutual concern including the international and regional situation were widely exchanged.

Conveying his warm greetings to the esteemed Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, and the leadership of the United Russia Party and all its members and other fraternal Russian people, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un wished the leadership of the United Russia Party greater success in the work for defending the sovereignty, security interests and territorial integrity of the state and building powerful Russia.

He hosted a luncheon for Medvedev and his party.
