The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry strongly denounced the remarks of the chief advisor of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan as a severe provocation against China as the adviser said that Taiwan is a state that shares basic values with Japan during the meeting with the chief of the Taiwan’s legislative organ.
Saying that Japan’s individual politicians gravely violated the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents concluded between China and Japan, and also seriously interfered in its internal affairs by committing provocations and causing troubles on several occasions on Taiwan issue, the spokesperson clarified that China expresses strong discontent and firmly opposes such acts.
There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory; the Cairo Declaration and the Potsdam Declaration clearly stipulated that the Chinese territory that had been conquered by Japan, especially Taiwan and the Pescadores be surrendered to China, which constituted an important component of the international order after the Second World War, the spokesperson stressed.
The spokesperson continued to note that Taiwan, a province of China, has never been a state and that Taiwan issue is the core interest of China and the political foundation of China-Japan relations, and the issue that has a direct bearing on the faith between the two countries; China urges Japan to adhere to the principles and spirits of the four political documents concluded between China and Japan and to fulfil its commitment to the fact that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China.
The spokesperson concluded by urging Japan not to have any kind of government-level exchanges with Taiwan under any pretext, nor to make provocation or venture to take any chances regarding Taiwan issue and stressed that the firm determination, will and immense capabilities of Chinese people to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity should never be underestimated.
