The Korean Floriculture Association, a social organization established in January 2004, comprises officials, scientists, technicians and skilled workers in the floricultural sector and amateurs, and regards it as its mission to make contribution to the development of the country’s floriculture.
Over the years the association has strengthened exchanges and cooperation in the field through the world horticultural exhibitions and similar events at home and abroad and helped promote the greening campaign across the country.
It has taken part in scores of world horticultural expositions and international flower shows, winning prizes such as the top prize at the 2014 .
It has introduced and generalized advanced techniques, playing a part in developing the country’s floriculture.
With a regional association in each province (municipality), it is engaged in various activities for exchanges and dissemination by holding a variety of events such as festival, exhibition, presentation and seminar every year.
Flower Festival-2025, an event held in Pyongyang last April on the theme of “Beautiful Spring, Our Beautiful Life,” served as an occasion in helping step up the nationwide afforestation efforts and drawing public attention to flowers.
The association is working on different projects to adopt scientific cultivation methods, further consolidate the technical foundation for increasing production and help technicians and skilled workers build up their capacity.
It also undertakes a comprehensive survey of the resource of flowers growing in the country, and makes effort to register and protect fine species.
We will make a positive contribution to developing the country’s floriculture and botany and boost exchanges and cooperation with international organizations such as the International Association of Horticultural Producers, said Kim Nam Jin, chairman of the association.
