The birth of the Workers’ Party of Korea on October 10, 1945 was a historic turning point in shaping the destiny of the DPRK and its people and achieving their future development.

The formation of the WPK as the political General Staff and vanguard organization of the Korean revolution provided the way and driving force for guiding the state building and social progress in the country and made it possible to enlist broad sections of the working masses in the revolutionary struggle.

The WPK has since then led the country and people, performing immortal exploits for the times and history.

As they were led by it, the Korean people could pioneer untrodden path undauntedly; as they were under its great leadership, they could fulfil gigantic historic causes in the face of unprecedented trials and hardships; and as they faithfully supported and followed it alone, they could reach the acme of dignity and glory.

The past 10-odd years in its 80-year history of leadership were the years of epochal changes that glorified the DPRK and its people as well as their future with brilliant inheritance, fresh pioneering and in-depth transformation.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un has elevated the Party’s leadership ability onto the highest-ever level, ushering in the new era of comprehensive prosperity and change.

Particularly, a new era of strengthening the whole Party began under his leadership. It has brought about fresh changes in its building and activities by definitely ensuring the uniformity of ideology and leadership and rearranging its leadership and fighting efficiency in all-round and concrete aspects. It has applied the Juche-oriented outlook on the people, the people-oriented philosophy, to all its work, thereby establishing the climate of making selfless, devoted service to the people across it.

The Party has led the defence industry in the new era in such a way as to radically raise the advanced and modern qualities of the country’s armed forces and thereby steadily augment the potentialities with which to thoroughly check and crush the threats of aggression by the hostile forces.

It has also opened a new era of civilization and prosperity when the people’s dreams and ideals are all translated into reality.

According to its long-cherished wishes, far-reaching plans including the rural revolution programme and regional development policy in the new era have been advanced to steadily widen the new realms for the improvement of the people’s livelihood. As a result, new streets and dwelling houses in the capital city and rural areas, modern regional-industry factories and offshore farms, advanced public health facilities including the Pyongyang General Hospital and other creations have sprung up to showcase the rapid progress for the comprehensive national prosperity and the Party’s spirit of devoted service to the people.

The Party’s 80-year history shows that the destiny of the people and socialism and the country’s future are guaranteed by the great Party and convinces the Korean people that victory is in store for them.

The Korean people are working hard to hasten the new era of comprehensive national prosperity, with firm belief that the leadership of the great WPK precisely means the strength and victory of the country.
