The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Party Founding Museum on October 8, 2025 on the occasion of the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
The museum, located at the foot of Mt Haebang in the capital city of Pyongyang, is a historic place where the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung stayed after Korea’s liberation as he worked to achieve the cause of founding the WPK (October 10, 1945), the DPRK and the Korean People’s Army.
The building offered the venue for important Party and government meetings including the enlarged executive committee meetings of the then Party Central Organizing Committee on seven occasions, from the second to the eighth.
Here Kim Il Sung delivered his New Year Address for 1947 through radio, met many workers, peasants and other people from all walks of life, and indicated the path for a new Korea to take.
Photos of Kim Il Sung are exhibited in the museum. And his office, reception room and conference room, as well as such relics as desks and chair he had used, are preserved in their original state.
The 80-year history of our Party is so great not only because it was founded in an original way but also because it etched in its banner the socialist ideals of achieving the independence of the masses and has invariably held fast to them, Kim Jong Un said in a commemorative speech made during his visit to the museum. He referred to the journey peculiar to the WPK during which it followed an original road of socialist construction while adhering to self-sustenance and self-determination, the principles of believing in the people and relying on their strength, guided by the Juche idea from the first day of its founding. And he also stated the secret behind the Party’s 80-year ruling history, the longest in the history of the socialist movement, and the main characteristics of its building and the outstanding exploits it has etched in the human history of political parties.
It is a proud thing that, at this historic house where the Party was founded, we can recall the course the Party has followed from one century to the next and make a pledge to give steady continuity to the great course forever at this house, he said, adding that the museum would shine forever as the sacred sanctuary which carries on the lineage of the WPK and its ever-victorious tradition for all ages.
