Amid the ever-aggravating trade war between China and the U.S., the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China clarified China’s firm stand with regards to President Trump’s utterance they could impose additional 100% tariffs on Chinese goods from November 1.
Referring to the fact that the U.S. is seriously infringing upon the interests of China by announcing sanctions measures against China one after another, the spokesperson said that China strongly opposes this.
It is not a proper way of interacting with China to threaten China with high tariffs rather than reflecting upon themselves, the spokesman added and urged the U.S. to correct its wrong approach and resolve the issues through dialogue and negotiation based on equality, respect and mutual benefit.
In conclusion, the spokesperson stressed that if the U.S. stubbornly insists, China will safeguard its legitimate rights and interests by taking strong counter-measures.
The unilateral behaviors of the U.S. will only provoke backlash from countries aspiring after economic trade relations, both equal and mutually beneficial, and will also make grave impact on the diversification of global trade.
