At the 80 th session of the UN General Assembly, the DPRK and other numerous countries, including Russia, China and Venezuela called for the rejection of the practice of exploiting human rights as political tools and weapons, and discrimination and inequality, as well as the withdrawal of unilateral economic, financial and trade measures hindering the international efforts to promote human rights.
Our representative asserted that the West, the main criminal to be placed in the human rights dock, should focus on resolving the numerous human rights issues within their own societies rather than engaging in one-sided and meaningless human rights preaching that only provokes strong opposition from sovereign states.
Saying that some Western countries’ unilateral coercive measures that interfere into others’ internal affairs and run counter to the international law and the UN Charter are severely infringing upon basic human rights such as the rights to life, health, development and education, Chinese representative urged that the Western countries should listen to the just voice of the international community and fulfill their promise to abide by the UN Charter and international law in a practical manner and immediately, categorically and completely withdraw their unilateral coercive measures.
Representatives of many other countries including Russia, Venezuela, Iraq, and Egypt strongly demanded that the acts of exploiting human rights issues as political tools and weapons, and the systematic discrimination and inequality should be rejected, calling for the sovereign equality in international relations and abidance by the international law.
