One day in August 2018, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited an airbase in the Jungphyong area in the northeastern part of the DPRK.
A month before, he came to the site to unveil a grand plan to build a large greenhouse farm with the vast area of the airbase as its main plot.
That day he asked the commanding officers of the air force unit to fly a plane with a cameraman to take a photo of the area and stressed that it was needed to take a good shot in order to identify a definite boundary of the greenhouse farm plot and build it in a neat and modern way.
An accompanying official told him that the people were all excited to hear that the military airbase would be transformed into a greenhouse farm.
Given that the country is under constant military threats of hostile forces and it gives top priority to national defence, it was easier said than done to turn a military airbase into a greenhouse farm.
In fact, it is a bold decision which can be made only by the Workers’ Party of Korea, Kim Jong Un said after hearing the official’s remarks. For our Party, he noted, national defence is for the sake of the people and the greenhouse farm building is also for their good.
True to this noble intention, the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm came to be built in a little over a year, sprawling over 200 hectares and comprising 320 blocks of greenhouses, a tree nursery and hundreds of dwelling houses.
