The Paektusan Institute of Architecture in Central District of Pyongyang was founded in July 1982.
With institutes for design and scientific research under it, it has a full set of modern means of design capable of ensuring scientific accuracy, correctness and promptness of design at a high level.
It has designed many monumental edifices and achieved successes in research work.
The designers, architects and researchers at the institute played their part in building Pyongyang Grand Theatre, swimming gymnasium of Kim Il Sung University, Pyongyang International Airport, Pyongyang International Football School, East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, Ponghwa Art Theatre, Okryu Restaurant, Chongnyu Restaurant, as well as new streets in the capital city of Pyongyang such as Changjon Street, Unha Scientists Street, Wisong Scientists Residential District, Mirae Scientists Street and Ryomyong Street.
They also rendered great service to the projects for the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, Masikryong Ski Resort, Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area and other leisure facilities for the people.
Meanwhile, they successfully carried out research projects for diversifying building materials in terms of shape, kind and colour.
In the course of this, the institute has produced a large number of holders of academic degrees and titles and honorary titles and won special prizes and first places at domestic and international events such as the May 21 Architectural Festival, the National Sci-tech Festival and the national sci-tech presentation in the construction sector.
The designers, architects and researchers are now pooling their creative wisdom and zeal in their efforts to usher in a heyday of socialist civilization.
