The past five years can be said to be an important milestone in the history of the Workers’ Party of Korea which greeted a new era of its building. In this period the Party advanced scientific and practical ideas and theories of its building to hold fast to its nature and character.
On October 17, 2022 the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gave a historic commemorative lecture to the teaching staff and students of the Central Cadres Training School of the WPK. In the lecture he indicated the orientation of Party building in the new era, which are political, organizational, ideological construction and discipline and work style building.
The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held in December that year adopted the five-point orientation on building the WPK based on his unique idea and theory as a line of the Party building in the new era.
After the Eighth Party Congress, major Party meetings such as plenary meeting and meetings of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee were held on a regular basis.
Accordingly, major Party meetings were convened regularly or frequently to adopt scientific, revolutionary and people-oriented strategies including preventive and super-powerful anti-epidemic emergency measures, urgent rehabilitation measures to remove natural damages, the programme of the rural revolution in the new era, Regional Development 20×10 Policy, childcare policy, far-reaching plans to build monumental edifices that embody modern civilization. And the thorough implementation of all these policies, plans and strategies is associated with major Party meetings.
During this period the spirit of serving the people devotedly has been established more firmly across the Party, which constituted a cornerstone in enhancing the Party’s leadership ability.
The 30th Enlarged Meeting of the Secretariat of the Eighth Party Central Committee held in January 2025 was a political event of weighty significance in making clearer the nature and character of the Party which adopted the people-first principle as the mode of its existence and its inherent spirit and in consolidating its might in all aspects.
Over the past five years the WPK has achieved a number of victories and transformations while faithfully discharging its original mission to defend people’s interests and concentrate all its efforts on bringing more benefits to them by raising its leadership ability in every way.
