In December last year several modern hotels were inaugurated with due ceremonies in the city of Samjiyon, Ryanggang Province of the DPRK.
The new hotels were built in different places of the northern mountainous city to go along with the symbolic names peculiar to the area such as Sobaeksu, Ikal, Potnamu and Chongbong.
While looking round the Ikal and Milyong hotels with pleasure after attending the relevant inauguration ceremony, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed his will to turn Samjiyon into a more wonderful, civilized city that can represent the tourism culture of the country.
In the initial period of his revolutionary leadership he unveiled a plan to transform the city, the first town at the foot of Mt Paektu.
In November 2013 he toured the then Samjiyon County to provide guidance over the work of its various sectors. He set up a well-regulated system to ensure a unified control and guidance of the work to develop the county, organized a powerful construction unit and solved issues arising in the construction project. In 2018 alone he visited the construction site as many as three times to provide instructions on building dwelling houses, public buildings and other structures in a peculiar style.
In November 2021 he visited the city which was turned into a model of modern mountainous city and expressed satisfaction over the fact that the construction project was successfully carried out as planned by the Party.
There was no limit to his painstaking efforts devoted to developing the city admirably.
In July 2024 he visited the city again. He referred to the need to develop the city into an all-season mountainous tourist complex, so as to meet the cultural and aesthetic demands of the people at the highest level and revitalize tourism.
Under his energetic leadership the hotels were built to boast their unique architectural beauty in perfect harmony with the nature of Paektu and peculiar service functions. Therefore, the city of Samjiyon has turned into an epitome of socialist civilization and a people’s ideal city.
