The Unsan Paper Mill in South Phyongan Province is a role model for paper mills to be built in all the provinces of the DPRK.
The mill’s pulp production line adopts a hybrid of chemical and mechanical procedures.
This advanced line feeds mainly on fast-growing poplar, as well as grain straw, hemp and other annual plants or fallen leaves, producing quality pulp.
A variety of paper for writing, wrapping and printing and other purposes roll out of the multi-purpose paper machine, a major piece of equipment in the mill.
At present, the mill churns out different products including paper for office use, wallpaper, sapling container and egg crate to fully satisfy the demand in the province. These products are also popular in other provinces and regions.
The construction of the mill of great economic efficiency and profitability provides an exemplary experience for other provinces to build a paper mill by themselves.
When he attended the inauguration ceremony of the Unsan Paper Mill in December last year, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the construction of a modern paper mill in Unsan County is of great significance, adding that through the inauguration of the mill, another new domain has been pioneered in the efforts to put regional industry on an advanced basis and better the material and cultural life of the locals.
