China has taken a tough stance against the unilateral sanctions of the U.S. and the UK.
Recently, the Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson commented in defence of the relevant counter-measures taken by China’s Ministry of Commerce in regard to the U.S. sanctions against five Chinese refiners over alleged Iran oil ties. He stressed that the Chinese government invariably opposes illicit unilateral sanctions.
The China’s Ministry of Commerce order to block U.S. sanctions are concrete steps to implement the Rules on Counteracting Unjustified Extra-territorial Application of Foreign Legislation and Other Measures, and China will firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and companies in accordance with the law, the spokesperson noted.
On the other hand, the spokesperson strongly deplored the UK’s sanctions against entities based in China for supplying drone components and other military goods to Russia.
He stated that normal exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia should not be disrupted or affected and China will do what is necessary to firmly protect its legitimate and lawful rights and interests.
