DPRK athletes snatched medals at the ITTF Asian Para Championships 2019 held in Chinese Taipei from July 23 to 27, Juche 108 (2019) drawing over 260 players from 16 countries and regions including the DPRK, China, Indonesia, India and Iran.
Jon Ju Hyon and Kim Yong Rok bagged gold medals in the team event (TT6-TT7) by defeating south Korean rivals in quarterfinals, Thai opponents in semifinals and Chinese finalists. Jon Ju Hyon snatched a bronze medal in the singles event (TT6).
They were also successful in the ITTF Para Table Tennis Bangkok Open 2019, held in Thailand on Aug 8-10, bringing together more than 130 men and women players from 21 countries and regions including the DPRK, Russia, Indonesia, India, Germany and Hong Kong of China.
In the team event (TT6-TT7), Jon Ju Hyon and Kim Yong Rok defeated all their opponents 2-0 to win the first place.
And Jon Ju Hyon won the singles event (TT6) and Kim Yong Rok came third in the singles event (TT7).
