This year, too, the Supreme Leader energetically led the struggle to build up the self-reliant defence capabilities, a cornerstone of the existence of a state and a guarantee for safeguarding peace.

He specified the orientation and ways to developing a new Korean-style weapon system, gave confidence and courage to defence scientists and blazed a trail for developing new-type, state-of-the-art military hardware, inspecting their test-firing grounds at midnight and early dawn.

The test-fire of a new-type tactical guided weapon and its power demonstration fire, test-fire of a new-type large-calibre multiple rocket launch control system, power demonstration fire of a new-type tactical guided missile, test-fire of a new weapon and others were conducted successfully under his guidance.

Saying that it was a must for him to guide the first test-fire of the new tactical guided weapon, he was on the rough sea early in dawn. After witnessing the great power of the super-large multiple rocket launcher, he said with great pleasure that each weapon developed and completed by us represents the greatness of the Workers’ Party of Korea which provided the powerful war deterrent capable of firmly defending the Korean-style socialism with responsibility for the destiny and future of the country and the people and the noble loyalty of national defence scientists who have unsparingly devoted their blood and sweats of patriotism true to the leadership of the Party, he said.

He led the national defence scientists to keep stepping up the development of Korean-style strategic and tactical weapons for resolutely frustrating the ever-mounting military threats and pressure offensive of the hostile forces by launching the indomitable offensive to put the strength of the country onto the level desired by it.

Inspecting a newly-built submarine, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that it was designed and built to be capable of fully implementing the military strategic intention of the Party and stressed the need to steadily and reliably increase the national defence capability by directing great efforts to the development of the naval military equipment such as submarine.

Upon receiving the reports that the Academy of Defence Science of the DPRK succeeded in the test-firie of a new-type of SLBM Pukguksong-3 and a super-large multiple rocket launcher in October, he sent warm congratulations on behalf of the WPK Central Committee to the relevant national defence scientific research units.

He also paid close attention to keep perfecting the combat preparedness of KPA service personnel and enhancing their combat capabilities.

Inspecting the fire strike drills of KPA defence units in the forefront area and on the eastern and western fronts and the landing training of snipers of the KPA Air and Anti-Aircraft Force, he stressed the need for the units to further increase their combat efficiency and maintain full combat readiness to cope with any unexpected situation on their own initiative.

While watching the combat flight contest-2019 of the flight commanding officers of the KPA Air and Anti-Aircraft Force, he noted that it is important for all the pilots to possess high level of aviation, bombing skill and marksmanship by systematically conducting flight drills on a normal basis under the simulated situation of an actual war in the severest conditions. During his inspection of the Changrin Island Defence Detachment on the western front and a women’s company under KPA Unit 5492, he stressed that artillery units and subunits should keep on the brisk movement for becoming crackshots.

Thanks to his ceaseless inspection tours for building up the country’s defence capabilities, the DPRK is demonstrating its dignity as an invincible military power.
