The study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu in Ryanggang Province located in the northern highland is in full swing in the DPRK.
There are many revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary sites in the area of Mt Paektu (2 750m high above the sea). It served as the central leadership base and the strategic stronghold of the overall Korean revolution centred on the anti-Japanese armed struggle organized and led by President Kim Il Sung in the latter half of the 1930s and the first half of the 1940s.
Every year, a large number of working people, youths and students, service personnel of the People’s Army make a study tour of the area in order to cherish the revolutionary traditions of the Workers’ Party of Korea as part of their own experience, not as a recollection of the historical facts in the past.
One month alone in December last year, thousands of officials and working people from all walks of life, including Party information workers and trade union officials, made study tours of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu.
Touring the battle sites, camping sites, campfire sites and slogan-bearing trees that showcase the traces of the anti-Japanese war and the noble spirit of the anti-Japanese forerunners, they arm themelves with the ennobling patriotism, indomitable revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude displayed by the anti-Japanese fighters.
Through the winter study tour, they realize the unyielding willpower, fighting spirit and revolutionary spirit of the anti-Japanese forerunners while experiencing the biting cold and understand how the cold inspires them and burns their hearts with enthusiasm for the revolution.
On the top of Mt Paektu, they cherish the spirit of Paektu and harden their resolve to carry forward and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered on Mt Paektu.
The study tour started from June Juche 45 (1956) when Chairman Kim Jong Il made a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu together with the students of the then Pyongyang Middle School No.1.
