The waist is the part of human body which bears the heaviest burden. So, if a player carries an excessive burden without fully warming up or in an improper posture, he or she would hurt it first.
Disc which acts as a buffer between vertebrae begins to be transformed, gradually atrophies and loses elasticity when people are over 20 years old.
Therefore, if outside force is imposed on them, they may slip discs easily and the symptoms vary in degrees from slight to serious.
Chronic slipped disc patients usually have waist trouble and they especially feel aching and cramping pain in one or both of the pelvis and legs and the pain flares as they bend their back, lift things, turn their bodies and sit crouching.
The main treatment method is to combine rest, traction treatment, traditional Koryo medical care and physiotherapy.
The player can take correct posture and do exercises to ease the pain. Such exercises include sideways and extension movements and bending of the waist.
Sideways and extension movements can be applied when the player has pain in one side of his waist or basin and he feels awkward to walk and move with his back tilting to the side and when he feels hard to bend himself forward or backward.
In the next stage, he can do waist joint moving exercises.
They are applicable when he feels pain in one part of the waist and while moving it and his movement of waist is not balanced.
Such exercises include putting two knees to chest, lifting pelvis in recumbent posture, raising the waist with two knees on the floor and rocking the waist from side to side in a kneeling position.
