Kim Jong Un , General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the DPRK, received a congratulatory message from Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, on July 11.

In the message General Secretary Xi Jinping, on behalf of the CPC, government and people of China and on his own behalf, extended warm congratulations and best wishes to General Secretary Kim Jong Un and, through him, to the WPK and the government and people of the DPRK on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the conclusion of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.

The message recalled that the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries made a far-sighted strategic decision in 1961 to conclude the treaty, thus laying important political and legal foundations for consolidating the militant friendship forged by the peoples of the two countries at the cost of blood and for promoting the long-term friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The message said that fully supporting each other and struggling hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder in the spirit of the treaty for the past 60 years, the two sides have strengthened the fraternal traditional friendship between the two Parties and between the two countries, propelling the development of the socialist cause and preserving the peace and stability in the region and the rest of the world.

General Secretary Xi Jinping said in the message that he, through several meetings with General Secretary Kim Jong Un in recent years, mapped out the prospects of the development of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries and reached a common understanding on various important issues for enriching the contents of the era of the China-DPRK friendship.

Noting that the world undergoes a great and rapid change unprecedented in 100 years, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed in the message that he is willing to provide greater happiness to the two countries and the two peoples by strengthening the strategic communication with General Secretary Kim Jong Un to properly control the direction of the advance of the China-DPRK relations and by steadily leading the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries to a new stage.

Saying that the 100th founding anniversary of the CPC was grandly celebrated recently in China, General Secretary Xi Jinping once again expressed his thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Un for sending a message of warm congratulations to him.

Noting that the DPRK people are concentrating all their efforts on the implementation of the decisions of the 8th Congress of the WPK in single-minded unity, the message expressed full support to the DPRK in its efforts for developing the economy, improving the people’s standard of living and dynamically carrying out the cause of building socialism.

The message expressed the belief that the WPK and the DPRK people would make new greater achievements without fail under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Un .

It wished the DPRK prosperity and its people happiness and wellbeing.
